Sharmela is an intellectual property lawyer at JAG Shaw Baker who advises clients on a wide range of intellectual property, technology, commercial and transactional matters, including licensing, IT services, joint venture, data protection, manufacturing, distribution and supply agreements, as well as mergers and acquisitions and private equity investments.
Sharmela specialises in life sciences and has previously worked in-house at Sanofi and on secondment to Takeda Development Centre Europe Ltd. She advises established and emerging pharmaceutical, biotech and medtech clients on a variety of commercial, research and development matters, including advising and negotiating clinical trial agreements, master services agreements, material transfer agreements and compliance with EU directives, regulations and guidelines. She also provides strategic advice with respect to business development, improvement to operational activities, dispute resolution under existing collaborations and industry best practices.
Sharmela is a graduate of King’s College London (LL.B (Hons) and LL.M (Intellectual Property) and prior to joining JAG Shaw Baker, Sharmela trained and worked for various international law firms in the City. She qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2009.
